Places
That Rem
ember Us
“What if places continue to hold something of us, even after we have left them?”
The paintings are drawn from places that have stayed with me throughout my life: former homes, my schools, and places I encountered while traveling. Some of them return to me again and again, sometimes so vividly that it feels as if I am there.
I began making these works during a period when I was feeling especially nostalgic. I became interested in why certain places remain so present in the mind, while others slowly disappear. The paintings bring together different moments from the same place. I am interested in what changes each time we return to it in memory, and how leaving a place does not necessarily mean that it leaves us.
