“When photographs lose their names, do their stories disappear, or do they wait to be found again?”

Vacances Retrouvées begins with anonymous holiday photographs I found in thrift stores and at flea markets. They were once personal keepsakes, but the names and stories that belonged to them have disappeared.

I paint directly onto the photographs, covering most parts while leaving others visible. Some elements may disappear almost completely, while certain details may remain. I don’t try to reconstruct the original story. Instead, I use what is still there to give the photograph a new chapter through painting.

Something of that moment remains underneath the painting, even though it can no longer be fully recovered. That tension between what is still visible and what has been lost is what keeps bringing me back to these images.
